Ford vs. Toyota: Reliability
May 21, 2018 - 2 minute read
Whether you choose a sedan, crossover, or pickup as your next vehicle, think Ford. These models are among the most reliable on the market, and all of them come with a great factory warranty. Ford sedans now come with the latest in safety and security systems, and the crossovers are loaded with safety and security features as well.
Toyota is another brand name that’s often spoken in the same breath as the word reliable, but to be honest, it’s Ford that offers the greatest measure of peace of mind, regardless of whether the vehicle model is the economical Fiesta, mid-size Fusion, the work truck F-150, or any model in between.
Safety Features
All Ford vehicles come with a full set of airbags including front and/or front-side, knee, and rear seating area curtain or side bags. The LATCH system of child seat anchors and tethers is found on all models including the rear seating area of the extended cab pickups. All models have stability and traction control.
The 2018 sedans can be purchased with either standard or optional front and rear sensors. Forward collision warning and automatic braking are standard on most model trims.
Sync 3 Infotainment
When this was introduced a few years back, it was a definite improvement over Ford’s older Sync system. This infotainment system completely connects driver and passengers to just about anything they want to access. Movies, streaming audio, the music library, navigation, favorite routes and destinations, and the list goes on and on.
It’s fast, reliable, and easy to become familiar with. Toyota models come with varying infotainment systems, and some of the base trim models don’t feature much of anything except emergency telematics and smartphone app integration.
Warranty
New Ford vehicles come with a bumper-to-bumper original coverage, and the limited powertrain warranty covers the engine and transmission for five or ten years depending on the model. Toyota extends a similar warranty, but Ford dealerships are known for their superior maintenance and service departments. Ford also has special programs for loaner vehicles while a major repair job is in progress.
Ford also boasts one of the highest resale value numbers in the industry, making these models a great choice if the owner wishes to trade up rather than sell the vehicle to a private party.
Ford vehicles have a proven safety and security record, and these models also depreciate very slowly, especially the lineup of crossovers. Come see them today at J.C. Lewis Ford in Statesboro.
